So last week, what a week! On Monday I was super excited to meet my friend & fellow blogger LJ (find her at Anything But Marzipan) for catch ups! LJ has been away travelling so I hadn’t seen her in over two years! LJ filled me on a blogging event she was heading to at Glenlo Abbey Hotel in Galway. When I heard Erika Fox of Retro Flame was the guest speaker I was sold as I love her blog! I also thought it would be a great way to meet some other bloggers and to spend the day with LJ. Win win as far as I was concerned!
On Sunday morning we headed for Galway, I was excited but also pretty nervous as I am very new to the blogging game! We arrived at Glenlo Abbey at about 12.30pm where we had a meet and greet and were treated to a punch reception. It was nice to just relax and mingle before the main event. The hotel is beautiful both inside and out and I will tell you all about that another day.
Then it was on to the River Room for Afternoon Tea. The room was stunning from the décor to the set up to the food! There was a goody bag packed with goodies on each of our seats. I’m looking forward to trying out the different products and reviewing them! We were treated to macaroons, lemon & poppy seed cake, snow cone cupcakes, mini scones, guiness cake with baileys butter cream and some pretty yummy sandwiches. We washed all it down with delicious organic teas from Solaris Tea. It was complete sugar overload but I couldn’t resist. Every bite was delicious!!
After we had eaten Erika took to the microphone and gave a most inspiring and informative talk as well as a Q&A. This lady is not only a very successful blogger (over 35k Instagram followers) she is also a young Irish business woman who is making a name for herself both here in Ireland and also in New York where she is based. From listening to her and chatting to her after the event it was easy to see how passionate she is about her work, and also how hard working she is. Sometimes when you meet someone you look up to they can be a let down but meeting Erika made me love her all the more. She is down to earth, friendly and made time to chat to everyone, answer their questions and pose for photos.
After the event we had the opportunity to network with some brands including St Moritz, iNailz and Solaris Tea.
What I wore
I did my own make up and LJ (who is a fantastic hairdresser) did my hair for me.
My pearl top is from Ruby Rouge Boutique in Gorey. Jeans are GAP. Shoes are Miss Selfridge.
Saibh & Sinead who are the founders of the Into The West Blogging Network did a fantastic job in creating a day to remember! I came away feeling inspired and happy and I knew I had made the right decision in deciding to start blogging!
